Here is where you will find details about the various assignments I assign you.
During Holy Week
Reading:
For an easy grade, you should load the "Choice of the Dragon" app available for iPod/Pad/Phone and Android. If you don't have one of these devices, you can play the game online. Simply visit: Choice of the Dragon and start playing. It's fun and I will give you an easy perfect grade to help your grades if you complete the game.
If you do not want to play games while you read, you must read the first part of the Odyssey. You should do this anyway. It's not much. You just need to know the details surrounding the sub-plots of The Lotus Eaters and The Cyclopes before we get back from our little break.
Writing:
You must begin writing a creative travel journal. Your adventure must be epic and follow the lines of Odysseus's story. You begin by setting off on a long journey. Along the way you meet interesting people, strange cultures and scary places. At one point you may meet people who try to tempt you like the Lotus Eaters. You will also encounter danger on your epic journey. Tell us about how you or the hero you accompany saves everyone. Be creative and include pictures if you can. I love pictures.
You can hand in your work in a variety of ways. If you want, simply email me your work. Please include a subject and your name please. You can also create a travel journal using everlater. Visit everlater and create an account. It's free and you do not need to load any software. If you have an iPod/Pad/Phone you can also add the app for free. Just search for "free travel journal everlater."
If you do not like writing using technology, you can write your journal on paper. Please keep a neet travel journal -similar to a diary. You will have to give me the journal for some time so I can go over your story -so please do not do this in your notebooks.
I look forward to checking out your stories as soon as possible. Students who fail to hand anything after the first Friday after our return from semana santa, will receive 30% as an incomplete grade.
You are all responsible for reading two short novels or books and then taking an online test at school. Please do not wait any longer to get on this. Your first story is due on Monday the 31st. Hurry before exams begin and you become real busy.
On line short tests
For practice and to follow up on our reading of Romeo and Juliet, there will be a series of on line tests you will be required to take. To receive a grade, you will have to enter your real name. Don't worry -no one else can see your results but me. The tests are quick and painless so try to get them out of the way as soon as possible. Those that try automatically pass! So why not give it a whirl.
Do you think it's possible to fall in love at first sight? Why or why not?
Instructions: Your work needs to be neat, creative and honest. You can either send it to me electronically or by pen and paper. Either way, you should go no longer than 1 page, double space and include a title. Please use your own words, spell check and hand in your work on or before Monday.
